A Korean SME has developed a test kit that detects immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies against Leptospira in the patient’s serum, plasma, or whole blood. The company is looking for a distribution agreement.
A Korean SME has developed a testing device detecting antibodies against Leptospira in the blood, using the immunochromatographic method. For the diagnosis of leptospirosis, which is a major and acute febrile illness that requires accurate diagnosis at an early stage due to similar clinical symptoms with different causative bacteria and treatment methods, this product uses the immunochromatographic method to quickly test on site without any equipment. It also has the advantages of simple operation and being able to read the test results quickly within 15 minutes. In addition, since it can distinguish between IgM (immunoglobulin M) and IgG (immunoglobulin G) and results can be read at the same time. It is easy to identify the progression of the disease and determine reinfection and the residual antibody. After applying a serum, plasma or diluted blood onto the testing device, antigen-antibody or antigen-antibody IgM or IgG antibodies for Leptospira in the sample combine with gold conjugated anti-human IgM antibody and gold conjugated protein A respectively. After that, each reactant moves along the membrane and reacts to the Leptospira antigen adhered to the test lines. If there is a leptospira antibody, antigen-antibody (IgM)-gold conjugated anti-human lgM antibody or antigen-antibody (IgG)-gold conjugated protein A complex form on the test line (T) and the test line turns a red color. The company is looking for a European distributor who can sell their products in Europe. They are particularly interested in finding distributors already selling diagnostic products. Their clients can be large or small retailers, wholesalers and distributors in medical market.
