Basque company specialized in developing R&D turnkey solutions is looking for an industrial partner to complete a consortium under an H2020 European Green Deal call. A partner from the energy sector and capable of dealing with marketing and business issues is sought.

Offer description

The problem being addressed here is that of decarbonization and the best way to tackle it is obviously by the implementation of renewable energies, which have the characteristic of being intermittent. Not only does this affect the production of electrical energy at a large scale but also, CHP (combined heat and power) and DHCS (district heating and cooling services) industrial cogeneration systems. Indeed, these renewable energy-based systems can play a key role in energy system integration, and make a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of the energy system. In the case of solar energy, the intermittency is also carried out with a low performance. Therefore, renewable energies must be more efficient and better integrated so that a more stable supply can be achieved. In this sense, hybridization of photovoltaic and solar concentration technologies will allow the flow of stable energy, without interruption and even without the sun. The opportunity of this project has been taken to improve the global efficiency of CSP (concentration of solar power) and PVT (photovoltaic and thermal) energies. It will allow separate advances in each one of them so that the global efficiency of the system can be maximized. Nowadays, performance ratios are in the region of 15-20%, whereas a 45% will be achieved with this project. For that purpose, new thermal fluids will have to be developed for CSP and PVT (solar, photovoltaic, thermal) energies as well as new collectors for CHP-DHCS (combined heat & power-heating & cooling) applications. The integration of both technologies will yield new energy production processes for the industry and for our cities. In sum, the object of the project is the non-compacted hybridization of the following: PV photovoltaic and CSC-PTC (concentration solar power-parabolic throw collectors technologies), both enhanced with the use of new thermic nano fluids that will be developed in the project itself. Innovations and advantages

The general benefits of the project will be: reducing greenhouse and air pollutant emissions and the use of fossil fuels. The proposed solution will involve flexible, affordable and secure systems that are based on onshore and local renewables that can be designed to be adaptative and scalable according to the energy demand. The benefits that the development of the project can bring are collectors of smaller sizes with a higher performance and cost reduction.

Current stage of development

The proposed solution can start from scratch and get to a TRL5 stage of development; that is to say it must have a technology readiness level of 5 which in this particular case, must have gone through all the required lab tests and certain components will have to be validated.

The partner sought could preferably be a trailblazer kind of company of medium or large size, active in the latest technologies applied to the energy sector and knowledgeable of the market situation for completing the consortium which already has 8 members. The expected support from this partner concerning the industrial hybridization process lies in: - Its design primarily, - results analysis of the simulation phase and definition of technical details, When it comes to market requirements, the tasks to be performed have to do with the definition of viability plans, market studies, business plans and the like. Other standardization tasks that new products involve will have to be carried out when these will reach the market. The group of organizations in the consortium has in mind a large or medium sized organization with expertise in European projects, capacity of designing hybridization processes of different energy systems and knowledgeable of the market requirements.
