Mould is all around us on the planet. It is important part of our ecosystem, but in our homes, mould can cause problems to our living environment and our health – respiratory diseases, eye irritation, nasal and sinus congestion or dry, hacking cough, nose or throat irritations, nervous systems, aches and pains. There are four most common moulds in our homes: Cladosporium, Penicillium, Aspergillus and Alternaria. Most often, people try to liquidate the fungi with chlorine based products because they are quite effective. However, chlorine is chemical matter and its breathing or skin contact has rather harmful effects. A research, executed by a Czech company, was aimed to develop eco-solution to overcome problems associated with chlorine based products – to build the solution that is friendly to humans and nature. It resulted in development of the novel biocid that uses power of a predatory myco-parasite that cannibalizes unwanted fungi. Safely and effectively. As it has no side-effects, it can be used in any area of the house or building, either preventively or in case of need (acute need or as a part of planned painting). How the invention works: Predatory parasite, a subject of the invention, uses its fibers to draw the nutritive substances out of the parasite (that may be fungi, yeast fungi or bacteria) thus committing its death. After the attacked parasites are destroyed, the mycoparasite pulls out from the place of action and encapsulates for a possible future. Enzymes produced by the predatory parasite are hostile even to bacteria that feed themselves with nutritive components produced by microscopic fungi. As fungi are on predator´s menu list, the shortage of nutrition halts propagation of the bacteria and leads to putrefactive processes. Current status: Active ingredient P.O. the predatory parasite, has been approved by European Commission Implementing regulation (EU) 2015/1610 of 24th September 2015 acc. to Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council and it is valid from 1st January 2016. The products containing active ingredient are subject to further approvals yet, nevertheless the company is making an advance search for partners interested in distribution. Help with registration process in distributor´s country is expected. The company searches for distributors of interior paints (distributors of antimould products, distributors of household items, distributors of disinfection or disinfestation) with a reasonable and stable market share.
