Dutch SME has developed a device to perform tests and quality control of rigid endoscopes used in hospitals. This fully automated, easy to operate measurement device is used in central sterile services departments (CSSD) in hospitals all over the world. The company is looking for partners with relevant contacts in hospitals for a distribution services agreement in Italy, Spain, Russia and Turkey.
Endoscopes are used on a daily bases in operation rooms all over the world. Daily use can cause minor and major defects in endoscopes that can cause delays during operations and in the worst case can be a reason for cancelling an operation. Quality control of endoscopes is often done by a visual check. The persons of a hospitals CSSD will look at and through the device to asses any damages or deficiencies. Upon a request from a hospital this Dutch SME developed an automated test and measurement device to verify the quality of rigid endoscopes, securing quality assurance and control. The device is easy to operate, fits any workflow or process, and can be added with minimal impact. Test and measurements are done after cleaning and prior to sterilisation. When endoscopes are deemed defective, a detailed report can be sent to accompany a request for reparation or exchange. All measurement results are stored for later reference, ensuring full quality management and reporting improving patient safety and saving costs. The device performs 6 fully automated test and measurement functions. Each function is designed to verify a specific element of the endoscope and provides detailed feedback on quality and usability. This automations ensures that all endoscopes are tested under the same conditions and pre-set specification every time. The test and measurement functions: - The viewing angle of the endoscope under test is measured in reference to the manufactures specifications. - The field of view is measured in degrees and represents the visible range of the endoscope under test. - The focus of the endoscope under test is measured against its reference value - The light fibers of the endoscope under test are measured against its reference value - The light transmission of the endoscope under test is measured against its reference value - During the colour balance test, the deviation is measured of the endoscope under test in relation to its reference value. Photos are taken during the endoscope measurement to present potential defects. This provides visual feedback of the tests to the device operators. For repair and replacement reporting, the photos provide confirmation about the defects and affected quality. All endoscope measurement details and pictures made in the process are stored for later use in defect and repair reports, but also for dedicated management and quality reporting. By using this data the performance of the endoscopes can be monitored to present history and trend analyses. The reporting engine is designed to build and run reports based on pre-set filters and selections and reports can be viewed on pc-screens or exported to various formats to be used in documentation. The Dutch company is looking for partners in Italy, Spain, Russia and Turkey. A distribution services agreement is offered. The partner needs to know CSSD managers, medical technology managers or the operating room manager of a sufficient number of hospitals in his region. The partner needs to dedicate sufficient time for sales of the device and needs to obtain a device for demonstration purposes in his region. Although the device needs little maintenance the partner needs to provide technical after sales services. Training and technical documentation will be made available by the Dutch company.
