Portuguese SME acting in the biotechnology field is specialized in the study of specific yeasts for wine production, which are isolated and studied for each particular wine, giving distinctive characteristics to the final product. Currently the SME is seeking large wine producers to offer these expertise and services under services agreements.
The Portuguese SME is oriented to technological services, testing and diagnosis, sustaining its activity on the areas of yeast biotechnology and oenology, with a highly qualified team, with competence in enology and viticulture, biology, agronomic, biological engineering and chemistry. The tests and diagnosis conducted allows the identification of yeast species in grapes, grape must and wine, the detection of spoilage microorganisms and the evaluation of different yeasts and fermentation conditions for a more targeted selection of yeasts, for the desired wine style. The company is able to assess the behavior of strains in the presence of environmental stress conditions, similar to those existing during winemaking, which influence the quality of the final product. Also, is able to carry out chemical analysis of must and wine, essential to monitor the winemaking process and the final quality of the product. The SME is currently interested in services agreements with large wine producers interested in these type of services and, specially, interested in produce new batches of wine with new and different characteristics.
